About Us
Claro Enterprises is a registered charity and a modern, well run sheltered workshop. A grant from The National Lotteries Charities Board enabled us to purchase these new premises. Established in 1989 we provide a safe and realistic working environment for people with with mental health problems.
The workshop provides a suitable and sound workplace for clients to develop and increase their self-esteem, motivation and confidence through the opportunity to learn and enhance both work and social skills. The atmosphere is friendly and rewarding and working as part of a team makes our clients feel better about themselves and ultimately improves the quality of their lives.
Around 40 clients are employed by Claro Enterprises who work on a wide range of equipment including a CNC router, computer, cement mixer and joinery tools to produce a wide range of products. They also provide an accurate light assembly and packing service for local manufacturing companies. The workshop is managed by Les Lancaster who in turn reports to a Management Committee.
Visitors are welcome and group visits can be made by arrangement which includes a tour of the workshop

Who do we help?
We help people in the Harrogate district suffering from mental ill health. In order to attend the Workshop a referral should be made to the Workshop Management Committee. Referrals are accepted from an appropriate medical authority, a professional in the field of Mental Health or from an interested individual.
All referrals have a nominated key worker and are part of the care programme approach. In a friendly yet work orientated environment all our clients are valued members of our happy work team. Further education / training and open employment become real possibilities once again.
